As it had been a cold night before I wasn’t expecting a great days fishing but I was pleasantly surprised. The day started quite slowly with a catla carp of around 5kg. I then caught my first Asian red tail catfish which tipped the scales at 6.4kg. This was followed by a small Amazon red tail catfish of around 5kg and another bigger catla carp of around 7kg.
By late afternoon the fishing was getting faster. I hooked into another Amazon red tail which put up a huge fight, unfortunately we didn’t weigh it but I guess it was around 10-12kg. This was followed by a small arapaima of maybe 10kg. I was told by the owner that this was the smallest arapaima in the lake. The day ended with another Amazon red tail catfish of around 8kg. All in all a cracking day with several very small Nile tilapia and silver barb, 3 Amazon red tail catfish, 2 catla carp, 1 Asian red tail catfish and 1 arapaima.
I highly recommend Fishoholics, it’s a great place to stay for a few days with good food, clean rooms and great fishing and it’s all very reasonably priced.
